Tense: Past Tense

•Unless otherwise stated anywhere in this blog S(कर्ता), V1(क्रिया का पहला रूप जैसे go), V2(क्रिया का  दूसरा रूप जैसे went), V3  (क्रिया का तीसरा रूप जैसे  gone), Q ( प्रश्नवाचक शब्द जैसे क्या ,कहां ,कब ,क्यों, कैसे ,किसका , कौन , किसे, इत्यादि ) stand for the subject, first form of the verb, second form of the verb, 3rd form of the verb, 'wh' words like what, where, when, why, how, whose, whom, etc.; and 3 dots(...) at the end of the sentence stand for the object (कर्म), complement, etc. The fourth dot stands for the full stop.

•The formula like colourful sentences with italics characters like S, V1, V2, V3, Q, helping verbs, +, ...., ...?, etc. represent the general word-order of the sentences in question.


[1/4] Past indefinite/simple past

Assertive सकारात्मक
S+V2+....
I went. मैं जाता था. मैं गया. 
We went. हम जाते थे. हम लोग गए. 
You went. तुम/ आप जाते थे. तुम/आप गए. 
They went. वे जाते थे. वे लोग गए. 
 Amit went. अमित गया. अमित जाता था. 
Students went. विद्यार्थी गए. विद्यार्थी जाते थे. 
Pam and Pat went. पैम और पैट गई/जाती थीं.

Negative नकारात्मक
S+did not+V1+.... 
S+never+V2+....
I did not go. मैं नहीं जाता था. मैं नहीं गया. 
We did not go. हम लोग नहीं जाते थे. हम लोग नहीं गए. 
 You did not go. आप लोग नहीं गए. तुम नहीं जाते थे. 
They did not go. वे लोग नहीं जाते थे. वे लोग नहीं गए. 
 Amit did not go. अमित नहीं जाता था. अमित नहीं गया. 
 The students did not go. विद्यार्थी नहीं जाते थे. विद्यार्थी नहीं गए. 
Girls did not go. लड़कियां नहीं जाती थी. लड़कियां नहीं गईंं. 
His mother did not go. उसकी माताजी नहीं जाती थी. उसकी माताजी नहीं गईंं. 
I/we/you/they/he/she/it/Amit/boys never went. मैं/ हम लोग /तुम /वे लोग/ वह /यह/ अमित/ लड़के कभी नहीं गए/जाते थे.

I did not went. is wrong/गलत है.

Interrogative प्रश्नवाचक
Did/(Q+did)+S+V1+...? 
Who+V2+...?
Did I go? क्या मैं गया? क्या मैं जाता था? 
 Did I not go? क्या मैं नहीं गया? क्या मैं नहीं जाता था? 
 Did we/you/they/he/she/it/Amit/Girls go? क्या हम लोग/ तुम/ तुम लोग/ वे लोग/ वह यह /अमित/  लड़कियां  जाते थे /गया /गई/ गए?  
When/where/how did I/we/you/they/he/she/it/Arnold/Nurses/etc. go? मैं /हम लोग /तुम /आप लोग/ वे लोग/ वह/ यह/ आर्नल्ड/ नर्सें इत्यादि कब/ कहां/ कैसे गए/गई/जाते थे/जाती थी? 
Who went? कौन गया/ गई/गए/ गईं?

Who did go? is wrong/ गलत है.
Did I went? is wrong गलत है.

I was going. मैं जा रहा था.

 A boy was going. एक लड़का जा रहा था.

Amit was going. अमित जा रहा था. 
 Sita was going. सीता जा रही थी.

Negative
S+was not/never+V+ing+.... 
I was not going. मैं नहीं जा रहा था. 
He was not going. वह नहीं जा रहा था. 
She was not going. वह नहीं जा रही थी. 
It was not going. यह नहीं जा रहा था. 
 A boy was not going. एक लड़का नहीं जा रहा था. 
A man was not going. एक आदमी नहीं जा रहा था. 
 Amit was not going. अमित नहीं जा रहा था. 
Sita was not going. सीता नहीं जा रही थी. 
 She was never going. वह कभी नहीं जा रही थी.

I had not gone. मैं नहीं जा चुका था . 
We/ you /they /he/she/Sita/it/The girls had not gone. Nobody had gone. Someone had not gone. I had never gone.

I had been going since yesterday. मैं कल से जा रहा था. 

We/you/they/he/she/it/Everyone had been walking for 5 hours.

Negative
S+had not been+V+ing+since.../for....
I had not been going since 11 o' clock. मैं 11:00 बजे से नहीं जा रहा था. 

I/we/you/they/he/she/it/Everyone had not  been walking for a few minutes. I had never been going.

Interrogative
Had/(Q+had)+S+been+V+ing+since.../for...?
Had I been going since last Monday? क्या मैं पिछले सोमवार से जा रहा था ? 
Had you not been going for 3 weeks?
Where /when/why/how had I/we/you/they/he/she/everyone/nobody/A man/All workers been going?
